Exploded view of an electric hub motor: cover plates, rim, magnet rings, stator with copper windings, and axle.

100% rare-earth-free hub motors.

A patent-filed ferrite design, for licensing to EV makers. Also available with 40 to 50% less rare-earth magnet, patent granted.

Our design is inside the wheel.

A BLDC hub motor sits in the wheel and drives it directly. E-Samarp designs that motor for two-wheeler EVs. The same rare-earth-free approach extends to drone and commercial motors.

Open the motor. One part sets the supply risk.

Copper, steel and aluminium have many suppliers. Rare-earth magnets have very few.

For India, the magnets are the exposure.

  • ~90% of the world’s processed rare earths are controlled by China.1
  • ~30% of EV motor cost comes from rare-earth magnets.1
  • Apr 2025: China began requiring export licences for seven rare earths used in high-performance magnets.2

So we took them out.

Ferrite hub motor, patent filed

No rare-earth magnet at all, and no exposure to its supply chain.

Reduced rare-earth hub motor, patent granted

40 to 50% less rare-earth magnet, for a one-to-one replacement.

Illustration only. This does not show the patented magnet layout.

Built for the line you already run.

Designed for existing controllers and production lines. The reduced rare-earth motor matches today’s hub motor one to one.

No-load back-EMF validated

Designed in simulation. Checked on hardware.

Finite-element models shape the magnetic circuit before metal is cut. On the ferrite prototype, measured back-EMF was checked against those models at different speeds.

Rare-earth-free first. Five product lines around it.

One patent granted, one at final hearing, one filed on the rare-earth-free motor.

Indian patent filings, backed by four years of research and physical prototypes.

  1. Patent filedon the 100% rare-earth-free ferrite hub motor.
  2. Patent grantedon the reduced rare-earth hub motor, with a second at final hearing.
  3. Filing in progresson the drone motor range.
  4. 4+ yearsof sustained electromagnetic research and design iteration.
  5. Physical prototypesof hub motors across power ratings.
  6. Back-EMF validatedon the ferrite motor, measured hardware against FEA at different speeds.

IE4 and IE5 line-start PMSM: meets IS 12615, marketing and manufacturing plan under discussion. AI-based optimization: groundwork done, testing in process. Mid-drive versions of the reduced rare-earth motor are in progress. The ferrite motor has been tested at no load so far, so ask us for current load-test status.

Optimization, for motors you already make.

Many induction motors in production today were designed years ago, without computer-based tools. Redesigning them with FEM, multi-objective optimization and machine learning is intended to make them smaller, lighter, cheaper to build and more efficient. Testing is in process.
